Our October spotlight artist is Sarah Bobo Harris. She specializes in Pageant Makeup and Hair, Bridal and Weddings, Special Occasions, Headshots. Sarah is located in Southaven, MS. and South, TN. and is available for travel. We were so happy to have her in our class and just loved meeting her family! We can't say enough about this Mississippi sweetheart. Go give her a follow on her Instagram account @sarahjadebeauty and Facebook (website coming soon).

What is your background? / What made you decide to be a makeup artist? My love for makeup began in 2011. One of my best friends, who owned a formal wear store, signed me up for Miss Mississippi Teen USA. I never considered myself to be a “pageant girl”, and was reluctant to compete because I had never done anything like that before. Prior to the pageant, I didn’t wear much makeup besides maybe some mascara on occasion. Before competing, my friend who signed me up, sat me down to teach me how to apply stage makeup and style my hair. I didn’t put much thought into the pageant because I didn’t know much about it. When people ask how I got into it I always say, “My friend signed me up and I just showed up with my dress for a good time. I was clueless, had the best time, and somehow won the crown.” The first time I had ever done anyone’s makeup was backstage the night of finals. Because I was so unaware of how big of a deal everything was, I got ready in maybe 30 minutes and was sitting Indian style eating Teddy Grahams before the show. The girl beside me was panicking and asked if I would help her, so I ended up styling her hair and helping with her makeup. I realized I had more fun styling her than myself. After I began dabbling in hair & makeup and it has progressed over the years.

What are some of the questions you need to ask yourself before you decide to be a makeup artist? Over the past 5 years, I have been following Danielle Doyle and TPF Cosmetics-religiously watching her tutorials and videos. I am currently a teacher, and over the past 4 years, I have been checking the dates of every course, and when I finally saw a date that matched my Spring Break, I jumped at the opportunity to learn from her. This is a dream! I admire Danielle as an artist, but also respect the foundations on which she has built her business all while giving glory to God with her work.

Before officially signing up to take the certification course, I mapped out my goals and purpose for my future as a makeup artist. Even though I had been following Danielle and contemplating taking the course for many years, I wanted to set goals for myself.

Tell us about your business? My business is called Sarah Jayde Beauty. I started doing friends’ hair and makeup years ago, solely advertising on word of mouth. This year I created Sarah Jayde Beauty with an Instagram and Facebook to share my work and beautiful clients. I have always loved all things makeup from natural to full glam and sharing that with my clients is a great bonus!

What has been your favorite event/client so far? My favorite event since taking the certification course has been a wedding of a friend. It was such a fun day with the most beautiful bride and bridesmaids.

How did you learn about The Perfect Face? I learned of The Perfect Face as Miss Mississippi USA 2011. Danielle did makeup at Miss USA that year, but was on Maternity leave for Miss Teen USA. I remember hearing how she was a “Mississippi girl” and always liked to style the Mississippi girls, but would be on leave during that time. After hearing the Miss Mississippi USA rave about how wonderful she was after Miss USA, I looked into her cosmetics line and have been obsessed since.

How did you hear about the certification course? I took the March 2020 certification course. I have been a TPF customer and follower for many years! I first heard of the brand as Miss Mississippi Teen USA 2011 when Danielle was a makeup artist at Miss USA that year.

Tell us about meeting Danielle for the first time. The first time I met Danielle, I was seriously star struck! We were both sitting in the sponsor section at Miss Mississippi USA this November, and I had to talk myself up to go introduce myself. After admiring her for years, it was like meeting a celebrity! She was unbelievably kind and encouraged me to sign up for the course. The next week she posted the spring dates and it lined up with my vacation at work, so I knew it was a sign I had to go!

What did you like about the course? I enjoyed every aspect of the course! Learning from Danielle was a dream. The business course on day one was very informative and Danielle went above and beyond to answer everyone’s questions. However, the hands on portion of the course was my favorite part! I loved learning the different techniques and styling our models. Meeting and creating friendships with the other girls in my class was the perfect bonus!

Would you recommend this course to other students? I would 1000% recommend this course to anyone who is interested in investing in their selves to improve their makeup skills and learn to navigate the business side as well.

What is your favorite TPF Cosmetics product? Choosing one just TPF Cosmetics product is hard. Personally, I am obsessed with the eyeshadows because their pigment is unmatched. I wear Seashell literally everyday. For clients, the shimmer pigments and lipsticks are both game changers.

Any upcoming events you will be attending? My overall goal is to eventually style clients competing at the USA state pageants, and hopefully one day Miss USA. However, this year I will not be able to attend because I will be having my first baby girl the same week!
